Gizla was the easiest dog i the world to have. She loved all people and children, and the best she knew was when she could persuade someone to cuddle with her for many hours, she had difficulty accepting that it might well be a little tired in the hands. * gg *.
Gizla was our little Tutti-mouse and she is the reason, why we named our company, with sales of agilitygear - Tutti Pet Products.
Every morning when we got up, came Gizla always standing with a rope or a toy, so we had to pull the rope. She was always happy and could really turn one's mood, if you got the wrong foot out of bed :-)
She had the most gorgeous head and eyes that really looked deeply into one.
Gizla and Michael ran agility at a competitive level, and reached to DcH's DM several times. Highest rank the results were a 7th space :-)
Below can be read on the last day when she was with us, and why she unfortunately had to say goodbye:
We lost Gizla one fateful Sunday in June. We had just arrived home from an agility competition, in which we had run with Sara and Athena. Previous week we had been on a trip to Holland to retrieve Divi home. We had grilled the night before the rally and played frisbee and Gizla was completely in vigor and enjoyed herself tremendously to overtake Sara and Athena and chop frisbee from them.
When we got home Sunday night, got all the dogs some food and we all leveled off on the couch afterwards. One hour after Gizla became restless and tried to get up on the couch with us. She seemed completely ruled out and a look at her gums, which was completely white and her eyes which turned to white - we decided to acute running to the vet. Veterinarian live only 5 min. from us and took us away.
He thought at first glance that there was a poisoning, and therefore she had no immediate circulatory stimulant, but both the vet and Michael phoned the officer in charge of the animal hospital to get them to help us.
While the vet is waiting on the phone, Gizla becomes clear in looking for the first time since their arrival to the vet, and look into Michael's eyes. Then she looks into the eyes of Karina and then she falls asleep in our arms. It was terrible to feel her disappearing so rapidly and because we still do not know what had made that she had been sick, so we had to quickly dry our eyes and run at lightning speed back to our 4 other girls, who are, could have been poisoned.
We had seen that Gizla had broken herself in the garden, and our puppy at 8 weeks, Divi, had sniffed and tasted it maybe ....? So we checked all dogs over every 5 min. in two hours, until the vet rang at midnight, where he had Gizla autopsy and found the reason for her departure.
Gizla had a distorted spleen, which was incredible because of edema. The reason is unknown, since it is an extremely rare event, and several vets have been interested in the matter because it is very rare. The spleen had formed scar tissue, making the vet felt that it could have happened up to a year earlier. The reason we are still uncertain about when there are so many precedents, but it had been a jump in the game or race, etc., where she has been active, and can be equated with a stomach turning - just without immediate disease.
Luckily it was not a poison, but the shock of losing Gizla the way are still in us today and we miss her unbelievably much. Fortunately, we had Divi who was young and curious and had not had time to tie too much to Gizla to hold us up.
But we will never forget our Tutti-mouse, for she was always happy and a mood spreads!
